Akola Police Busts Gangster Connection, Seizes Arms and Arrests Three


Akola, Maharashtra: In a major development, the Akola Police have unearthed a suspected link to notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of two pistols and nine live cartridges.


Tip Leads to Arrests and Weapon Recovery:


On January 16th, acting on a tip, police apprehended Praful Chauhan and Ajay Tethe near the Akola Naka Bridge. While initially finding an empty magazine, further investigation with the Special Task Force led to the recovery of two firearms and ammunition hidden in a nearby well.


Third Suspect Linked to Bishnoi:


The investigation took a turn when police arrested the third suspect, Shubham Lonkar, from Madhya Pradesh on January 29th. Call details and data retrieved from Lonkar's phone revealed his alleged communication with Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi through video and audio calls, as well as an international call to an unknown number.


Police Probe Deepens:


Superintendent of Police Bachan Singh confirmed the connection, stating, "We are working to establish the motive behind the suspects' association with Bishnoi and trace the source of the weapons." He further clarified that the investigation aims to determine the suspects' intentions and uncover any potential activities of the Bishnoi gang within the Akola district.


Charges and Future Investigation:


All three suspects have been booked under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. The ongoing investigation seeks to understand the extent of the connection with Bishnoi, uncover the motive behind the weapon possession, and determine if there is any active presence of the Bishnoi gang in the Akola region.
